Support with Water Tankers to Villages and Neighborhoods Continues in the Fight Against Forest Fires

To increase the effectiveness of efforts to combat forest fires and enable citizens to provide faster support to firefighting operations, the General Directorate of Forestry (GDF) continues to distribute water tankers to village and neighborhood headman ships located within or adjacent to forest areas without interruption.

Within the scope of the program launched in 2003, water tankers supplied by the General Directorate of Forestry are complemented by contributions from provincial special administrations, municipalities, and private and legal entities supporting the initiative through social responsibility projects. Thanks to this cooperation, the total number of water tankers distributed nationwide reached 4,873 by the end of 2025.

In 2025 alone, the General Directorate of Forestry delivered 308 water tankers to village and neighborhood headman ships, while the distribution of an additional 100 water tankers is planned for 2026.

The tankers, which do not have their own engines and are produced as trailer-type units, operate with a motor-pump system powered via the tractor's power take-off shaft and have an approximate water capacity of 3 tons. During the delivery process, training on the use of the tankers is provided to village heads and relevant personnel, while annual inspections are carried out by Forest Enterprise Directorates to ensure that the equipment remains operational.

These tankers, which significantly enhance firefighting capacity by supplying water to fire engines during large-scale fires, will continue to be increased in number in the coming period in line with identified needs.
