International Scientific Forum on Rehabilitation and Restoration of Degraded Forests is carried out in Kazakhstan

International Scientific Forum on “Rehabilitation and Restoration of Degraded Forests” which is planned to contribute to the improvement of cooperation will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan between the dates June 8-12, 2015 in cooperation with Kastamonu University and S. Seiffullin Kazakh Agro Technical University. The main objective of the forum is to provide a platform to discuss the main environmental problems of Kazakhstan and other countries in Central Asia such as deforestation, forest destruction and desertification, and to get concrete outcomes in general both for Kazakhstan and other countries with similar ecosystem conditions.

Exchanging information and experience that Turkey has and with other international contributions, a road map will be tried to be set for Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Kastamonu University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sezgin Ayan and Seiffullin Kazakh Agro Technical University Head of Forest Resources and Forestry Department Prof. Dr. Dani Sarsekova will be the coordinators for the Forum. 4 different national organizations from Kazakhstan, and General Directorate of Forestry and General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion from Turkey provide support to the forum as well as the organizations such as IUFRO, EFI, UNCCD, UNDP-GEF at the international level.
