The “March 21 World Forestry Day” held on March 21, 2018, at the Beştepe Millet Congress and Cultural Center under the auspices of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan was celebrated with intense participation and enthusiasm.
The President underlined that they are the all times most conservationist and green friendly government and told that “To protect forests is to protect your homeland.”
Furthetmore he remarked that there were black pine seeds in the letters which the Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs was going to send to 23 million houses via PTT and if provide the growth of those seeds they would reach their Greener Turkey target sooner. And he mentioned that they would start the project posting the first letter after a while. Again he said, “I believe that it will be a pace towards keeping alive the letter tradition that is almost getting out our lives with the spread of the internet and the mobile phone.”
Our prime minister said, "It is our greatest goal to increase the amount of forested area from 28.6% to 30% in 2023", pointing out that we are the children of a civilization who owns a special point of view against all creatures.
Honorable Professor Dr. Veysel Eroğlu announced that 21 March was celebrated as World Forestry Day, 22 March World Water Day and 23 March as World Meteorology Day.
He also gave information about the action plans, honey forests, afforestation work and support offered to the forest villagers, recalling the instructions of the President of the Republic of Turkey, "Now the forest organization will be the locomotive of the development".
